Council of Europe

Joint visit of the Committees of the European Commission against Racism and Intolerance and the Framework Convention on National Minorities.

The functions of the Office for the Promotion of Migrant Integration include the coordination of Ireland’s international reporting requirements relating to racism and integration. The Office organised the agenda and other arrangements for the Joint Visit of the Committees of the European Commission against Racism and Intolerance and the Framework Convention on National Minorities in February 2012.

Meetings with Government Officials, representatives of the Human Rights Commission and the Equality bodies, representatives of the Press Council, Broadcasting Commission, Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions etc. took place in our offices at 6-7 Hanover Street, Dublin 2. The Committees also visited Galway where they met with officials from Galway City Council and visited a direct provision centre etc. The Committee also held meetings separately with representatives of civil society in both Dublin and Galway.

The Committee's report/findings on Ireland were published on 19 February 2013. The ECRI Press Release announcing the report's publication is available here.
