Legislative position

You will find below a link to a speech given by Minister Lynch in the Senate on 5th June 2014 in response to a Private Member's Motion on the subject of "Tackling Racism and Promoting Diversity".

Minister Shatter provided a statement to the NASC Conference on Racism and Hate Crime in Ireland, held in Cork on Friday 4th October 2013. The Minister expressed his regret on being unable to attend but was glad to be able to provide a contribution.

On 4th July 2013, Minister Shatter made a speech welcoming new citizens at a Citizenship Ceremony, in which he condemned racism and highlighted the need to report racist crime to the Garda. He finished by asking his audience, using their personal experience of being migrants in Ireland, to write to him with
proposals/initiatives for actions Ireland could undertake to defeat racism.
